The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) is gearing up to honor exceptional talent in the television industry once again. In an exciting Friday announcement, AAFCA revealed the distinguished list of artists, actors, and TV shows that will receive recognition at the eagerly 5th annual AAFCA TV Honors. This prestigious event is scheduled for August 27 in Santa Monica and is expected to be a glamorous affair, shining a spotlight on the remarkable accomplishments of African American creators and performers.

Celebrating Excellence: AAFCA TV Awards 2023 Recognitions Revealed

The AAFCA TV Awards 2023 is all set to honor outstanding talent in the television industry. This year, the esteemed Legend Award will be presented to the classic TV icon Marla Gibbs, known for her unforgettable roles in sitcoms like “227” and “The Jeffersons.” Delroy Lindo, celebrated for his performances in notable productions including “Unprisoned,” “Da 5 Bloods,” “Crooklyn,” and “Romeo Must Die,” will receive the distinguished Legacy Award.

Jennifer Hudson, an EGOT winner with remarkable versatility, will be recognized with the prestigious We See You Award for her consistent excellence in both music and acting, as well as her hosting role on The Jennifer Hudson Show.

Alongside these exceptional individuals, two remarkable TV shows will also be honored. The CBS series “S.W.A.T” will receive the Impact Award for its impactful storylines that resonate with the African American community. The Apple TV+ show “Ted Lasso” will be presented with the Inclusion Award, recognizing its commitment to representing diverse perspectives.

AAFCA TV Honors 2023 Competitive Categories Announcement

The AAFCA TV Honors, established in 2019, are dedicated to recognizing and celebrating excellence within the Black community in streaming and television.

On July 19, the film critics association will announce the winners in competitive categories such as best actor, best actress, best comedy series, best drama series, and more, showcasing the best of the best in the world of television.

The culmination of this prestigious event will be a ceremony held on August 27 at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica, CA. AAFCA president and co-founder, Gil Robertson, will oversee the proceedings, honoring the exceptional talents who have contributed to the richness of Black entertainment.

The AAFCA TV Awards 2023 promises to be a momentous occasion, applauding the excellence and contributions of the remarkable talents and shows.
