Angus Cloud, Who Played Fezco in HBO’s ‘Euphoria’, Is Dead At 25 After The Devastating Loss Of His Father

Angus Cloud, who appeared in two seasons of HBO’s Euphoria, has passed. He was 25 and his family made the announcement to the world on Monday, shocking Euphoria fans. He was a beloved cast member, and his role was one of the show’s most popular characters. Cloud was strolling down the street in Manhattan when he was cast as a drug dealer named Fezco “Fez” O’Neill on the show which ended up being HBO’s Emmy-winning addiction thriller, and was created by Sam Levinson. Fans, friends, and family have been expressing their love for the deceased actor in a wave of tributes.

Cloud died Monday at his family home in Oakland, California, according to his publicist, Cait Bailey, with the family issuing a statement expressing their grief. No cause of death was immediately disclosed, however TMZ stated that Oakland PD responded to a 911 call made approximately 11:30 a.m. on July 31, 2023, by Cloud’s mother, reporting a “possible overdose,” and that her son did not have a pulse. He was later pronounced dead at the spot. “A source close to the family tells us Angus had been battling severe suicidal thoughts after getting back from Ireland, where they laid his father to rest,” reported the outlet.

“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways,” wrote Angus Cloud’s family in a statement to THR. “Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend.”

Angus has been mourned by his Euphoria family, his biological family, his friends and his fans alike, with most of them rushing to social media to honor the actor. Even HBO issued a statement to THR saying, “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.” The show’s director Sam Levinson also joined in, writing: “There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon. He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.”

Javon Walton, who portrayed Fezco’s little brother Ashtray in the HBO drama, shared a post to Instagram to honor Angus, captioning it: “rest easy brother” along with an Instagram Story which read “Forever family.” Zendaya’s little sister in show, Storm Reid captioned a video of Cloud’s performance on her Instagram Story, writing “The tears just won’t stop.” Colman Domingo (played Ali Muhammad) also shared a photo of the cast posing together pointing out Angus’s smile with the words: “That was his smile. That was him. May he rest sweetly in peace.” After this, many other co-stars and famous musicians joined in, writing tributes to the actor.
