After five years of dating and just 14 months of marriage, Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari have called it quits amid cheating rumors. Variety has learned that the pop icon is working with an A-list legal team to aid her in their upcoming divorce, and reps for the two have declined to comment.
This decision comes as the two apparently had a “nuclear argument” in which Asghari reportedly accused the 41-year-old singer of cheating on him and confronted her about it. According to TMZ, Sam has moved out and is living in his own place right now.

Asghari — a trainer, model, and actor best known for his work on the shows Black Monday and Hacks — proposed to Britney Spears in September 2021, following years of dating after meeting on set of her 2016 music video “Slumber Party.” Although their engagement occurred while Spears was still under a conservatorship and unable to legally sign any documents, including marriage licenses, the couple was finally able to exchange vows six months after Spears won her freedom from the system in December 2021. After their private and intimate marriage ceremony with just 60 guests, the two were rumored to be having some trouble in paradise but Asghari’s rep firmly denied this. After being seen without their rings, the two are now going their separate ways.

Spears will also continue to work with another other powerful lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, who famously assisted the singer in getting out of her controversial conservatorship in 2021.
