Daniel Radcliffe Is Not Seeking Out A Role, Doesnt Plan To Return For ‘Harry Potter’ TV Series

The Harry Potter franchise is one of the most popular and successful in cinematic history. The eight films based on the books have grossed over $7.7 billion worldwide, making them the third highest-grossing film series of all time. Daniel Radcliffe played the titular character for every one of those movies. In 2023, HBO Max announced that it would be producing a Harry Potter TV series. Radcliffe recently gave his opinion on the series, saying he is definitely not looking for a place in the show.

What did Daniel Radcliffe say about returning for the ‘Harry Potter’ TV Series?

Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter in the eight blockbuster films and is now 33 years old. This year, it becomes over a decade since he last played the popular character. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Radcliffe said that he is “definitely not seeking out” a role in the upcoming Harry Potter TV series. He understands that the producers of the series are “trying to very much start fresh” and that he doesn’t want to “get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere.”

Radcliffe also said that he wishes the producers and the cast of this show the best of luck and is happy to pass on his role.

“My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere. So I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way. But I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world and I’m very excited to have that torch passed. But I don’t think it needs me to physically pass it.”
