Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick, Bachelor Nation’s beloved couple, have chosen to part ways after four years of dating and two years of engagement. On August 6, the two confirmed their split in a statement on Instagram.

The statement, posted on Jason’s Instagram account, announced their decision to end their relationship to the world. “After sharing the news with family and close friends first, and taking the time to properly process it ourselves, we are saddened with heavy hearts to share that we have decided to end our engagement,” he wrote. “We are thankful for all of you who gave us the time and space to process this life altering decision as there are many emotions and changes to navigate.” The reason why the two broke up hasn’t been disclosed yet, but Tatrick further mentioned, “Friendship is incredibly important to both of us. We feel grateful to be ending our engagement with love and respect for each other.”

This announcement comes two years after the couple announced their engagement and four years after they made their courtship public. Though Kaitlyn, 38, and Jason, 34, are both a part of Bachelor Nation—she initially featured on Chris Soules’ 2015 version of The Bachelor, before appearing on her own season of The Bachelorette later that year, and Jason participated on Becca Kufrin’s 2018 season of the show—the two did not meet on television.
