What is the basic overview of Kevin Costner & Christine Baumgartner’s divorce proceedings?

Basically, recent developments in Christine Baumgartner and Kevin Costner’s divorce case have revealed that Baumgartner is seeking $161,592 a month to provide child support for the couple’s three children, Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13. Costner, however, is countering her claim, suggesting that his payments instead should amount to $60,000 a month. During a hearing, Baumgartner’s lawyers accused Costner of receiving more funds than he previously claimed. The Oscar-winning actor then talked to press outside of the courthouse, saying, “This is a horrible place to be but this is where we’re at.” Continuing, he shared: “It feels so bad, we’re talking about somebody I love on the other side… I just can’t.”

He also then publicly acknowledged that he still loves his ex-wife, although he agrees that they “everyone” wants the divorce to be finalized as quickly as possible. Costner’s legal team did accuse Baumgartner, however, of trying to smear Costner’s reputation last week. Aside from this, about the heavy child support sum requested by the actor’s estranged wife per month, Baumgartner’s team argues that the funds requested are necessary to properly raise the couple’s kids at a comparable level to Costner’s significant wealth.

“Because the children fly on private aircraft to go on luxury vacations when they are with their father, the Family Code dictates that Kevin should pay sufficient child support to Christine so that the children can go on comparable vacations when they are with her. This is true even if the child support payments also improve Christine’s lifestyle.”
