Madonna’s music career has reportedly earned her the impressive sum of 400 million records sold, including albums, singles, and digital content. According to the website, she has held the title since 2009, with Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, and Beyonce just behind her in second place. The pop icon just kicked off her 12th concert tour, the Celebration Tour, in London on Oct. 14, and will soon continue the tour in the U.S. starting on December 13.

The singer originally intended to start her tour earlier this year in July, but was confronted with a severe health scare that left fans worried. Madonna is also facing fierce competition from Swift’s The Eras Tour, which finished up the inaugural leg in the United States in August, and Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour, which concluded in October. Guinness World Records has yet to certify any of those two tours’ sales records.

Health Scare: An Update From Madonna

This July, Madonna’s highly-anticipated tour was put on hold when she was hospitalized due to a bacterial infection. At the time, the beloved pop superstar took to social media, writing, “Thank you for your positive energy, Prayers and words for healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.”

The singer then continued, “My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.” Now she feels better and ready to take the world by storm again in her unique fashion.
