Just a day after being detained by the Southampton PD in response to a 911 call about a suspicious person in Sagaponack Village, Town of Southampton, Chad Michael Busto has been arrested on suspicion of stalking. Busto had reportedly entered private driveways on a bicycle, claiming to be searching for Drew Barrymore’s residence. Following a brief questioning and release on Wednesday, the detective division conducted a follow-up investigation, which uncovered further evidence supporting the stalking charge. East Hampton Town Police located and apprehended Busto on Thursday, subsequently handing him over to the Southampton police.
So, at Thursday night at 11:59 PM (local time), Chad Michael Busto, a 43-year-old resident of Washington, D.C. was taken into custody by Southampton Town Police in New York. According to a press release, Chad was charged with the misdemeanor offense of stalking in the fourth degree and was apparently being held overnight, with him being scheduled to appear before the Southampton Town Justice Court at the morning arraignment.

The arrest comes in the wake of a disturbing incident involving Drew Barrymore during a 92nd Street Y event tied to the release of Reneé Rapp’s new music. Chad Michael Busto yelled the talk show host’s name and rapidly walked down the aisle toward the front of the theater just a few moments after Barrymore and Rapp had taken their seats. Busto replied, “You know who I am,” when Barrymore, whose vision was obscured, said hello and glanced out into the throng. “I need to see you at some point while I’m in New York.” Rapp hurriedly got up, moved in front of Barrymore, put her arm over her, and escorted the actress off the stage. Right after this creepy incident, Venue security promptly removed Busto (who was sitting in the front row) from the theater. Aside from this incident, he has a long criminal history also including an incident of harassment of two girls, aged 12 and 15.
