The reality TV couple and Real Housewives of Potomac stars Mia Thornton and Gordon Thornton have announced that they are ending their 11-year marriage. It has been clear that their relationship had been on the rocks, but the news of their divorce comes as a shock to many fans of the show.
What did Mia & Gordon Thornton say about their divorce?
“Like all marriages, ours has had its ups and downs,” Mia told PEOPLE on Friday. “At this time, Gordon and I are separated, but my family is my number one priority, and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure we are okay.” Continuing, the reality TV star added. “We ask that you respect our privacy and give us the time and space to figure things out.” The announcement comes just one day after the trailer for the upcoming RHOP season was released, revealing that the couple’s marriage was in trouble.
Mia says in the teaser that she “might have” married Gordon for “his money” and that she once “obtained a divorce attorney” – though it’s unclear when. Problems started almost a year after Mia revealed that her separated husband’s brothers “robbed [them] of everything [they] own.”
The Bravolebrity, who co-owns The Joint Chiropractic with Gordon, said his siblings “recently revoked his access to the company bank account” while the two were “out of the country.”
