Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara and True Blood star Joe Manganiello have announced their divorce after 7 years of marriage. The couple, who were considered one of Hollywood’s “golden couples,” released a joint statement on Monday confirming the split.

Recently the two had raised many eyebrows, with Sofia being away for her 51rst birthday bash in Italy with many friends but no Manganiello or her wedding ring – which lead to many fans speculating that their marriage was over long before the announcement came. Vergara and Manganiello told Page Six in an exclusive statement: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

How did Sofia Vergara & Joe meet?
Sofia, who has a 31-year-old son named Manolo with her first husband Joe Gonzalez, first met Joe Manganiello at a White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in 2014, while she was engaged to businessman and millionaire, Nick Loeb. A few weeks later, when it was announced that Loeb and Vergara had split, Joe requested for the actress’ phone number from Sofia’s Modern Family co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson. In November 2015, the couple married in Palm Beach with 400 family and friends in attendance, including Vergara’s “Modern Family” co-stars Ariel Winter, Ed O’Neill, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, and Ty Burrell. Manganiello’s “True Blood” co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, as well as Reese Witherspoon and Channing Tatum also attended the event.
