After the announcement, the artist issued a statement: “It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.” This is not the first time Usher has performed at the Super Bowl. When Black Eyed Peas headlined the game in 2011, he performed — and saved the day — alongside them. CBS will broadcast this years program live.

For the sixth year in a row, Jay-Z and his Roc Nation organization will produce the halftime performance. The rap legend shared an Emmy with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, and Kendrick Lamar for the spectacular, hip-hop-heavy halftime show in 2022. This year’s halftime act including Rihanna, who confirmed her pregnancy during the spectacular performance, has been nominated for five Emmys. Jay-Z is up for two awards, including one for best directing for a variety program, which he shares with Hamish Hamilton.
