Billy Miller, three-time Emmy-winning actor on The Young and the Restless and long-running star in All My Children and General Hospital, has passed away. The news was confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by the actor’s manager. Miller was only 43 and fans around the world are shocked with the announcement of his passing.

What was the cause of Billy Miller’s death?

Miller died Friday in Austin, Texas, while suffering from manic depression, his manager informed The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday. According to the statement, he would have celebrated his 44th birthday that day, and his exact cause of death is unknown at this time. His mother, Patricia, sister Megan, brother-in-law Ronnie, nephew Grayson, and niece Charley survive him.

Billy Miller first gained attention through his role as Richie Novak on ABC’s All My Children. He later secured the part of Billy Abbott on CBS’s The Young and the Restless, playing the character for more than 700 episodes and receiving critical acclaim. The same year he left the CBS show, Miller took on the long-running role of Jason Morgan/Drew Cain on ABC’s General Hospital.

The actor then moved on to recurrent appearances in drama shows such as Suits and Truth Be Told after three extended back-to-back runs on some of cable’s largest soap operas. Throughout his career, he has appeared in Ray Donovan, Fatal Honeymoon, American Sniper, Ringer, Castle, and Justified as well.
