Charlie Puth Condemns Throwing Objects at Performers After Kelsea Ballerini Incident

Charlie Puth, the Light switch musician, spoke out in defense of his fellow entertainers on June 29, a day after Kelsea Ballerini was struck in the face by a bracelet tossed from the crowd at her recent show in Boise, Idaho. Recently, there’s been more than one situation where a concertgoer has thrown something on stage, injuring a performer. Puth took to social media to express his disapproval of the incident, with fans supporting his every word.

What did Charlie Puth say about this?

“This trend of throwing things at performers while they are on stage must come to an end,” he tweeted, before adding how aside from Kelsea, Ava Max and Bebe Rexha also recently suffered injuries at their concerts. “It’s so disrespectful and very dangerous. Please just enjoy the music I beg of you.” Fans had an overwhelmingly positive reaction to this tweet with one user saying “Hope this hasn’t and doesn’t happen to you! I feel so bad for artists that go through this. It ruins it for the people who actually respect the hard work a musician goes through to make their music, and especially to perform for us. THANK YOU CHARLIE.” A few more people went on to comment on this tweet adding that, “Well said, Charlie…it boggles the mind why “fans” do this…. Thankyou for speaking out!”

Which performers had objects thrown at them recently?

Recently, there have been a number of incidents of objects being thrown at performers onstage. For example, at the British Summer Time Festival on June 25, a concertgoer threw a bag of ashes in Pink’s direction. The Just Like a Pill singer was not hit by the bag, but she was left stunned by the incident. In a now-viral TikTok video of the moment, Pink can be seen picking up the bag and asking, “This is your mom?” Ava Max was also a recent victim of one of the more dangerous ends of these incidents, during her concert in Los Angeles on June 28. She was actually slapped in the face by a man who rushed onto the stage, before being pulled away by security. Max continued to perform, but she later tweeted that “he slapped me so hard, he scratched the inside of my eye.” The man was arrested and charged with assault.

Kelsea Ballerini also spoke out about the importance of having a safe space during her performance after being hit at her June 28 concert. “Someone threw a bracelet, it hit me in the eyes,” she wrote on Instagram Stories June 29, “and it more so just scared me than hurt me.”
