Hailey Bieber Addresses Rumors About A “Made-up” Feud With Selena Gomez & Her Nepo Privilege

In a June 29 interview (conducted by E! News) with Hailey Bieber, an American model and the wife of Justin Bieber, many rumors and controversial topics were discussed. She dished out the details on her beliefs about the supposed feud with singer Selena Gomez, and addressed her nepotism privileges.

What are Hailey Bieber’s thoughts on being a “nepo baby”?

Bieber is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin and the niece of actor Alec Baldwin. Recently she wore a now-viral t-shirt that had “nepo baby” written on it, out and about in Los Angeles. Hailey Bieber recently clarified the meaning behind this style choice, with people interpreting the shirt as a way for her to mock the debate over nepotism in Hollywood. The Rhode beauty owner claims that she had a different intention and actually wore the shirt as an “overly literal” way to respond to the criticism that she has benefited from her family’s connections. “I’m just going to call myself a nepo baby, because I am one, and I embrace that I am,” she said. After this, she had further criticism flung at her calling her “not enough of a nepo baby” which frustrated the model, making her go on to claim that “nothing’s ever enough” for the internet.

“What was funny about that to me, the way the internet is, it’s like nothing’s ever enough. You’re going to sit there and call me a nepo baby all day long, but then I acknowledge it and then I’m not enough of a nepo baby? There is never any winning with the internet, and that’s what I’ve always—time and time again—realized.”

What did Hailey Bieber say about her alleged competition & feud with Selena Gomez?

The rumors that Bieber has something against Gomez begun in 2015 when her now husband, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez broke up. Recently they became very intense when people started circulating rumors on TikTok that “everything Hailey does” is an attempt to copy Selena as she has always been supposedly jealous of the singer. They continued with users taking out-of-context photos of Justin Bieber and commenting at how unhappy the singer looked and how Hailey allegedly had him there forcefully. It became so large that Hailey Bieber begun receiving death threats and nasty comments, and Selena had to stage an intervention. She posted on social media about how Gomez has “always advocated for kindness and wants the hate to stop.”

In this interview Bieber comments on the rumors saying that they’re all made up, and there’s nothing like that between her and her beau’s ex. I don’t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez,” explained the star, “This is not about this pitting between two women and division between two women. It’s about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made up and twisted and perpetuated narratives. That can be really dangerous.” She further went on to add that, “I don’t like this whole idea of team this person and team this person—I’m just not about that. I want to be able to bring people together.”
