Hulu is set to stream Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion with the first three episodes, “Resurrection,” “Promises,” and “Betrayed,” being available on the streamer starting from July 21, through Thursday, August 17, ahead of the series’ season finale on Disney+! This move comes following Disney’s decision to integrate Hulu into a “one-app experience.”
What is ‘Secret Invasion’ about?
The basic narrative of the series involves Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), a former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., discovering that a sect of shapeshifting Skrulls has been invading Earth for years. He joins forces with his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, to stop the Skrulls from launching a full-scale invasion. The series is set in the present day Marvel Cinematic Universe and is a blend of action, suspense, and humor. It will leave fans wondering who they can trust, as the Skrulls are able to shapeshift into anyone. Secret Invasion is a suspenseful and interesting ride, having already generated headlines for it’s AI controversy.
What are Disney’s plans for Hulu?
While a handful of titles have traveled between Hulu and Disney+ before they went live, this is the first time a Disney+ original series will also be available on Hulu. Aside from Secret Invasion, the other Disney+ originals that Hulu aired includes Andor and American Born Chinese. According to Disney CEO Bob Iger, the move comes as Hulu is slated to be merged into Disney+ as part of a one-app interface. While Hulu will also continue to operate independently, the arrangement pulls the two Disney-backed platforms closer together. The change, which is likely to take place exclusively in the United States, is expected to take effect before the end of the year.
