‘Everwood’ Star Treat Williams Dead Due To Motorcycle Accident, Hollywood Pays Tribute

Treat Williams, one of Hollywood’s most beloved, dedicated and versatile actors passed away in a motorcycle accident at the age of 71. Known best for his performances in ‘Hair’, ‘Prince of the City’ and ‘Everwood’, the actor’s loss has been mourned heavily by Hollywood with tributes piling up non-stop. Williams death was confirmed by his agent Barry McPherson in a statement to THR, after which he said that Treat was the “the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s.”

How did Treat Williams Pass Away?

Sadly, Williams left us on Monday, June 12, because of an accident in Dorset, Vermont. He was killed shortly before 5 p.m. when an S.U.V near the border between New York and Vermont was going south on Route 30 and turned left into a parking lot straight into the path of the actors Honda motorcycle. According to the Vermont State Police, he was “unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle.” Although he was wearing a helmet, he was still unable to survive the crash and was pronounced dead at a medical center in New York after being airlifted there.

“Working with Treat Williams in Mamet’s ‘Speed the Plow’ at Williamstown in ’91 was the start of great friendship. Damn it, damn it. Treat, you were the best.”

Even Matt Selman, showrunner on ‘The Simpsons’ remembered Williams with kind words, saying that he “had a huge sense of humor and it was a blast to hang out with him.” A recent co-star of Williams, Vanessa Hudgens, wrote on her Instagram story, “He was a great movie dad and an even better human being. Treat Williams was a fantastic actor, a joy to be around and the kindest soul. He will be missed.”

Billy Baldwin tweeted a lengthy tribute to Treat saying that, “He had it all. Smart. Talented. Funny. Charming. Successful. Handsome. Compassionate. Heart of gold….. He truly and deeply cared about what’s going on here in America and around the world. Climate change, social justice, freedom, truth, tolerance….”
