Halle Bailey, singer/songwriter and now actor, is very likely to collect $117 million over memorial day weekend. Her exceptional performance in the live action of a fan favorite classic, Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ is certainly worth as much and even more. She has inspired women and little girls of color by helping show more representation for them. Bailey has reportedly claimed that it warms her heart and makes her inner child happy to be able to do this. She recently went incognito to a theater to watch her own film, and is ‘really grateful to be in this position’.
Tough moments to film and amazing profits:
Halle has shared tough moments to film with us since production started in 2021. One of the most vital ones was the filming of ‘Part of Your World’ song sequence which took more than 3 days to finish filming. The actress mused about how important it was to her for this song to be perfectly delivered, vulnerable, and beautiful. ‘The Little Mermaid’ is mostly a remake of the original 1989 animated classic except for an amazing twist for the ending. Halle Bailey and Javier Bardem have explained why changing the movie’s ending was so important on many fronts.
Profits have been high ever since the film came out on May 8th, 2023. Tony Chambers, the head of distribution at Disney told Variety about how this film was ‘a classic’ and how he was excited for this movie to be ‘the perfect opportunity for a lot of people to pass that love (of ‘The Little Mermaid’) on to the next generation.’ Due to this and some outstanding performances and the inspiring cast, the box office for ‘The Little Mermaid’ has been doing exceptionally well.
Halle’s comments on the changed ending:
“That ending is really a great version, and it shows her strength and power throughout the film. You’re seeing Ariel transform in front of your eyes, where at the beginning she’s a little bit shy and timid and frustrated because the beautiful things she’s voicing about herself and her future and her wants and needs aren’t being heard. And so, for her to go out of her way to burst through to the world that she doesn’t know, and for her to be brave enough to do so and come out on top the way she did, and fighting for love and friendship and family at the heart of the film is just, it’s so cool to see. So, I definitely say moments like the ending were really impactful to me, and I was happy to see that transformation in Ariel.”
