‘Chrisley Knows Best’: Todd and Julie Chrisley Get Their Prison Sentences Reduced

Todd and Julie Chrisley, widely known as the stars of the show Chrisley Knows Best, will reportedly be spending less time behind bars. According to the couple’s lawyer, the pair have had their prison sentences reduced. Here’s what we know:

What are Todd & Julie Chrisley’s prison sentences now?

The couple’s lawyer, Jay Surgent, recently announced the Chrisley’s sentence reduction which comes after their conviction for charges related to fraud, including conspiring to defraud community banks, conspiring to defraud the IRS, and tax evasion. Todd Chrisley’s sentence has been downgraded to 10 years from 12 1/2 years while Julie Chrisley’s sentence has been reduced to 5 years from 7 years.

“Their sentences were reduced as a result of the application of the First Step Act in which they were given upfront credits to their sentences. They have also been model incarcerated individuals in full compliance with Bureau of Prison regulations. Also, they will be given credits effective November 1st, 2023 with the adoption of the new Sentencing Commission recommendations providing credits for non-violent, first time offenders.”

What are Todd & Julie Chrisley in prison for?

During the time of the trial, the U.S. Attorney’s Office pointed out that before Chrisley and Julie became famous reality TV stars, they provided false documentation to banks to obtain millions of dollars in fraudulent loans. According to prosecutors, the couple spent some of the funds on luxurious possessions, including vehicles, clothes and trips, while also applying for new loans to settle the previous ones. After spending all the money Todd Chrisley fraudulently obtained, he filed for bankruptcy and walked away from a whopping $20 million in loans.
