The currently untitled Gomorrah prequel from ITV Studios-backed Cattleya will focus on the criminal career of leader Pietro Savastano, from when he was a boy on the streets to his rise to the most powerful and brutal boss in Naples. The screenplay will be written once more by Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli. The original show aired on Sky for five seasons, totaling 58 episodes, from 2014 to 2021. A 2008 film of the same name was also released, being partially inspired by the book. Marco D’Amore, Salvatore Esposito, and Fortunato Cerlino appeared in Gomorrah.

Romanzo and Gomorrah rewrote the rules for Italian TV series. What’s more, if the classic drama has now become a TV series in Italy, it is thanks to Romanzo, which took a completely new path, and Gomorrah – building upon the strength of this example.”

The creator of this series, author and judge Giancarlo De Cataldo, is also on board for the prequel project, having created the series bible as well as the book that inspired the original show.
