Captain America 4 Starring Anthony Mackie Gets A Title Redo!

Via Twitter, Marvel Studios announced on Tuesday morning that the fourth ‘Captain America’ movie starring Anthony Mackie as ‘Captain America’ , has undergone a title change. Previously called ‘New World Order’, it has now been renamed ‘Brave New World’. In addition to unveiling the film’s new spectacular title, the image posted on Twitter also gives us our first real look at Harrison Ford’s casting as ‘Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross’.

Why did they change the title?

The concept of a “new world order” is actually rooted in anti-Semitism. This conspiracy theory propagates a dangerous narrative surrounding Jewish communities, and has gained a lot of traction over the years. Ever since Marvel announced the title for this movie in 2022, there has been many whispers and controversy surrounding it, with people questioning whether the studio is anti-Semitic. A shift away from such a potentially hurtful title is certainly very wise, particularly with some of the characters brought into the mix. In addition to that, the new title is speculated to be a keen comic book reference to Aldous Huxley’s classic 1932 novel Brave New World.

Harrison Ford and his MCU debut:

‘Brave New World’ comes on the heels of the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and the Disney+ series ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ with new characters. Harrison Ford is set to make his debut into the Marvel universe with the release of this film in 2024 as ‘Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross’, previously played by the late William Hurt. Ford is no stranger to big franchises, having starred in ‘Indiana Jones’ movies for multiple decades, in addition to him making an appearance in ‘Star Wars’ as Han Solo. The president of Marvel, Kevin Feige, recently shared how excited he is about Ford joining the MCU.

“There’s a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson [Mackie]. They have a history together, but in this film, we’ll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the President of the United States in a way that is just incredible.”
