“We both got called in just as seat-fillers and we saw each other. Jack Black is getting his part and Jude Law is definitely getting my part, but [Meyers] needed someone to read with the gals, and we’re sitting there going, ‘It’s about to happen for us.'”

“I was in a hotel room with Robert Downey Jr., Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, and we read this script… I said, ‘If Jack Black says no to this movie, I’m so in. I’ll do it for half his price.”

Hilarious Audition Stories from Downey Jr. and Fallon for ‘The Holiday’

During auditions for ‘The Holiday,’ Downey Jr. attempted a British accent, but Kate Winslet called it “the worst I’ve ever heard.” Humorously, Downey Jr. remarked that he was ready to leave the audition, jokingly taking the gummy bears from the minibar with him.

On the other hand, Fallon was in awe of Downey Jr.’s acting skills and proclaimed it was the best scene he had ever performed with an actor.

Following the auditions, Fallon decided to quit auditioning for roles altogether. Released in 2006, ‘The Holiday’ starred Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black.
