Levinson has detailed his multiple efforts to support Angus Cloud in his battle against addiction. The young actor’s death was attributed to a lethal combination of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and benzodiazepines.

Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, shared that he arranged for rehab and multiple interventions to support Cloud’s recovery. Levinson emphasized the importance of Cloud’s sobriety for their work together and even arranged for rehab, with HBO covering the costs.
“I could always feel that he didn’t want [sobriety] as much as we all wanted it for him. That’s where it gets tricky because the whole world can want it for you. But he didn’t want it… But you can’t give up on people. I wasn’t going to let anyone give up on him.”

Despite the challenges, Levinson remained committed to helping Cloud, going so far as to keep the actor on the show even after his character was supposed to have died.
