“I could always feel that he didn’t want [sobriety] as much as we all wanted it for him. That’s where it gets tricky because the whole world can want it for you. But he didn’t want it… But you can’t give up on people. I wasn’t going to let anyone give up on him.”

Despite the challenges, Levinson remained committed to helping Cloud, going so far as to keep the actor on the show even after his character was supposed to have died.

After concluding Season 2, Levinson delivered a clear message to Cloud: sobriety is a requirement for returning to set. Despite Cloud’s initial reassurance that he was doing well, Levinson detected his lack of genuine commitment to recovery.
