We associate Isekai with Sword Art Online or The Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime. What we don’t consider are DCEU properties. That is, however, exactly what we will be getting very soon. Because it was just announced a few days ago that Suicide Squad will be getting a new anime, and it will be an Isekai. While we’ve seen our favourite villains venture into multiple universes before in the comics, this is going to be a whole new ballgame.
While these villains have had several animated series and movies, this will be the first time the Suicide Squad as a whole gets a new anime. Not only that, but WIT Studios will be producing this new anime. Yes, the same studio that brought us Attack On Titan. Fans have high hopes for this intriguing new anime, which is unavoidable.
The project will be directed by Eri Osada.
Yes, this is the same Eri Osada who was behind Jujutsu Kaisen, so we can be confident that this new anime will look fantastic. While there is no official release date yet, we have seen a teaser trailer and a sneak peek of the character designs for Joker and Harley Quinn. And I must say this art style perfectly captures their characters.
Suicide Squad’s previous outing on the big screen was a flop, with fans divided on whether they liked or despised the film. That is why the stakes for this anime are so high. This appears to be a massive undertaking, and fans are hoping that it exceeds their expectations. For the time being, all we can do is wait and see.
