TikTok’s New Text-Based Posts Feature Are A Huge Threat To Twitter & Instagram Threads

TikTok, the popular app where users post short videos with other people commenting their views, liking and sharing the posts, is expanding into the text post market. The app, which is owned by ByteDance, has added a new function that allows users to create text posts, with users now having the option to add text, sound effects, and stickers to their posts, which is presently only available in beta testing. This new feature could potentially bring TikTok in the market as a direct competitor to Twitter and Instagram’s latest app, Threads.

What is more information about the text posts and what has TikTok said about this recent expansion?

TikTok, which has seen immense growth in the United States thanks to its innovative features for creating short videos and its highly efficient recommendation algorithm, is attempting to capitalize on a gap left by Elon Musk’s Twitter, which has made a series of odd decisions in the months since the billionaire obtained the site. It might also quickly demolish Meta’s new Threads app. Of course, TikTok, with its rapid development and addictive nature, believes that by including text directly into its feeds, it may steal many of Twitter’s users. It is also introducing new tools for users to utilize to enhance their text postings, such as music, stickers, and background colors. When announcing the new feature, the company made the following statement:

“With text posts, we’re expanding the boundaries of content creation for everyone on TikTok, giving the written creativity we’ve seen in comments, captions, and videos a dedicated space to shine.”

How does this have the potential to overthrow major platforms in the text game?

Musk stated over the weekend his desire to redesign Twitter as “X,” with the iconic and much loved Twitter bird logo vanishing Monday morning. Meta Platforms Inc., founded by Mark Zuckerberg, responded by accelerating the development of Threads, a text-based Twitter rival based on Instagram. Threads, which debuted earlier this month, has swiftly established itself as the first serious alternative to Twitter in the text-based social networking market. While Threads maintained a lot of hype in it’s starting days, it eventually simmered down and people began realizing that the platform was a bit boring but it worked as there wasn’t a better alternative.

With Twitter rebranding, and users facing many problems with the interface lately as well, more and more people are in search for new platforms that are – to say the least, not boring, and have a large number of users so they can find interesting and different content. With TikTok checking all these boxes and just lacking a text based posting system, the only thing users needed was this feature. TikTok’s new update shows its potential to become increasingly more popular than it already is, but only time will tell what the future holds.
